Pinky Mobile case

Good day friends !!!

  A Mobile case crochet was the first thing  i did when i started to learn . It turned out well enough to give me more confidence to do further .Infact , it is the best quick thing to do for ourselves .

Crocheting is both fun and versatile... Be it decorations , accessories like handbag,clutch jewelry,etc,utilities such as dishcloth ,baskets ..anything can be crocheted 

Choosing the right type of yarn gives us amazing results.

In this post am posting a simple and easy mobile case with just double crochet stitches .

      


Considering the ease of use ,i preferred drawstring in the case to flip cover.

Materials used:
Yarn :cotton 100%(both pink and white)
hook :2mm


Crochet in cotton yarn makes the stitch look more distinct .though it is little tough than the woolen and as you can see simple dc stitch looks good enough.

Look Into dc (double crochet),hdc(half double crochet) for further details.



Steps to do :

1.Measure the  width of your mobile .and do the foundation chain of the length  twice the width of the mobile .  Add two more chain  and slip stitch to the first chain to form a round. The extra two chains covers the thickness of your mobile.

Mine is Moto e and chains made is 35+2 =37

2. After slip stitch chain 3 and dc on each stitch.To finish the round slip stitch on the 3rd chain made a first.  .so the work goes round row by row  .\

3. White yarn is changed when 3/4th of length is covered with pink yarn.

   Change of yarn :

 on the top of 3rd chain made at the start of the row white yarn is pulled  instead of pink leaving a small amount of yarn forward ,yarn over and continue crocheting with white and pink beneath as shown in below pic 

continue holding beneath  for some stitches holding both yarn and leave them knotted or as such . this way inside out of the case also looks neat.

4.With white hdc is made just for small variation . continue till height  of the mobile .

5.After finishing till the height only drawstring stitches  can be added .When drawstring is pulled top of the case should be shrinked without affecting the case stitch .So stitches are increased in drawstring holder.

Stitch increase- 1 stitch per 2 stitches.

finishing  the hdcs , chain 3 and dc2tog the next stitch,chain 2 ,dc 2 tog next two  stitches chain 2 and move on like the same till the end of the round 

so, for two stitches three stitches are made .and this itself worked out well. Slipstitch to finish the case.

Drawstring:

Using any yarn chain upto a length desired .the drawstring should go into the dc2tog stitches alternately  and come around as shown  in pic.

After chaining the desired length, chain one more but little loose ,take out the hook ,cut the yarn after some length.now, fold the remaining yarn into the chain like shown in the pic below .

Insert into the mobile case using other end and the insert the starting leftover yarn also into the last chain and tighten it. cut at the end to form the bunchy part.

 A simple bow added made it look still more good.

Bow is simple and easy to do .For easy and quick understanding i drew a picture for the flow.

hope you got into the flow.!!!. TheBlack line is the start.for each part of the bow 8 chain are made.tail two parts are for chain with sc s.

steps:

• Chain 12 and slipstitch into the 5th stitch from the start .lets keep this as centre.
• Chain 4 downwards ,sc across,slipstitch in the centre ; again chain 4 downward  ,sc across ,slipstitch in the centre .
• chain 4 and slip stitch in the start, 
• 4 sc s into the loop , slipstitch in the middle ;8scs into another loop ;then do remaining 4 scs in the first loop.fasten off ;

Sew the bow with sewing needle and thread on the desired place of your case.

Coaster- table decoration

Here comes the coaster for your favourite  coffee mug!!!!

Last week was little busy and also since am new to blogging ,i did not post any :)but didn't lag in  crocheting new things  :). The most significant thing happened last week is the announcement by Modiji for the eradication of black money which is the major the threat to Indias development.  Tired of seeing  only in films about the removal of black money and now WOW!!!!! something really happened .Rs500 and 1000 which is the denominations of black currency of many are demonetized overnight .Though public chaos will be for some days ,yet this will be the best start for boosting Indian Economy .

Well , I did not start with the idea of doing a coaster.being inspired from snowflake crochet design IIthought of doing one ..while it is going i gave little more strength to it and made it a coaster :) .ok, keeping the stories behind let me go into the pattern

Materials 

Yarn :cotton
Hook :2mm


Abbreviation Used :
sc-  single crochet
dc - double crochet
ch-chain


Pattern:

Rnd 1:Chain 3 and slip stitch into the first stitch . 12 dcs into the chain space made; slip stitch on top of first dc;12 stitches in round 1

Rnd 2:  chain 5 (this is kept as first dc and 2 chain) then  1 dc and ch 2 in each stitch; slip stitch into the 3rd chain made at the start of the round
so 12 dc and 12 chain space( 2 chain is referred as chain space)  in round 2.

Rnd 3:  chain 6 (kept as 1 dc and 3 chain ) and 1 dc in the first chain space .Then in each of the chain space created in the above round 1 dc -ch 3- 1 dc;slip stitch into the 3rd chain made at the start;
so 12 set of dc-ch3-dc in round 3.

Rnd 4 : In each chain space created in the above round 2 hdc,2 dc,2hdc and slip stitch in the middle of 2 dc made in previous round .it looks a small petal of a flower .slip stitch is made to make it look distinct. 12 petals are formed.

Rnd 5:  Two ypes of formation are made in alternate flowers

Formation1 :
    slip stich on the first two stitches of the first petal;chain 6 and join in next stitch ;slip stitch in the next two stitches ;

Formation2:

On the next petal there are 3 rounds ;slip stitch on the first two stitches

                Rnd 1: chain 6 and join in the next stitch this forms a loop;
                Rnd 2: after finishing the loop do 12 sc into the loop in anti clock wise direction.;
                Rnd 3: Now 6 loops are made on the sc stitches .It goes as after sc s ,chain 6 and slip stich in next stitch ;{slip stitch in next stitch and chain 6 and slip stitch in next stitch }repeat it 5 more times

Thus both the formations are done 6 times

Rnd 6 : This round is made to just add strength to make it little firm to sit on the table.Let me call it as assertion of the shape.:) Rnd 5 ends in formation 1 and a slipstitch ,now on the 6 smaller loops

loop 1 ,3,4,6: do 5sc in the first loop slip stitch in the next stitch ;
loop 2,5: chain 6 and slip stitch in the next stitch ;

Next on the formation 2 chain 8 and slip stitch in next stitch;




Cotton yarn is perfectly washable and this goes well for table decoration .This piece can also be used as motif in crocheting. Many pieces like this of different colors can be joined together to form a full table decoration pattern, Soon planning to detail on the motif joining .... .

Peacock Feather Crochet pattern

PEACOCK FEATHER WALL HANGING

Who will not love a peacock feather with natural beautiful colours , i just simply adore it.

I though i can crochet one and make it as wall hanging in the pooja room door or even use it as a  a book mark or side hanging in handbags especially jute bags with matching colours.

The double feather crochet makes a perfect wall hanging best suitable for houses with contemporary decorations . Let me goto the design.

Material Used :

• Crochet hook 2mm
• Crystal beads 4 
• Yarn ;Bamboo cotton
• Sewing Needle 

   This yarn of course has got  good shining texture which made the feather more attractive.I can suggest this yarn only for crocheters who are little advanced, beginners can just use Worsted yarn for practice.

Assuming the readers are already known with terms

Magic Ring,Single Crochet ,Double Crochet , Half double crochet ,slip stitch ,picot stitch and changing yarn  the following pattern is written .

Abbreviations :

sc-Single Crochet ,dc-Double Crochet ,hdc -Half double crochet,tc- treble crochet

ch-chain,st-stitch

Feather 1:

Rnd1: Do magic ring ,ch 2,18 dc into the magic ring  chain 1.slip stitch in 2nd chain of the two chain first made.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch.total 37 stitches.

Rnd 3: this round will make slight oval shape from round shape.  change the yarn  of your choice as changing the yarn in this round highlights the feather in a prominent manner.

{sc in next 5 st,hdc in next 5 st,dc in next 6 st,2dc in next st, dc in next st,3 tc in next st,dc in next st,2dc in next st,dc in next 6st, hdc in next 5st, sc in next 5 st.}

total 421stitches.slip stitch into 1st sc stitch 

Rnd 4: Change the yarn to different colour and  slip stitch in first 3 stitches, sc in next 2 st, hdc in next 2 st 

(dc- picot  in next st, dc in next st )5 times, 

dc -picot in next st, (dc,dc- picot )in next  3 st,

dc-picot in next st, (dc- picot  in next st, dc in next st )5 times

hdc in next 2 st   sc in next 2 st, slip stitch in last 3 stitches.

When the pattern is closely observed you can find it to be symmetrical . After round 2 which consists of 37 stitches it is divided into three parts first 19 sts, 1 peak stitch,next 19 stitches on the peak stitch 3 treble crochet are made to make it elongated and make feather oval shpae.

Feather 2:

The Same pattern but with a slight difference of adding one more round is done. Start with  12 dc into the magic ring 

Rnd1: Do magic ring ,ch 2,12 dc into the magic ring  chain 1.slip stitch in 2nd chain of the two chain first made.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each stitch.total 25 stitches.

Rnd 3: this round will make slight oval shape from round shape.  change the yarn.

{sc in next 3st,hdc in next 3 st,dc in next 4 st, 2dc in next st, dc in next st,3 tc in next st,dc in next st,2dc in next st,dc in next 4st, hdc in next 3st, sc in next 3 st.}

total 29 stitches.slip stitch into 1st sc stitch 

Rnd 4: Change the yarn to different colour and  slip stitch in next stitch.Do as follows in each of the next stitches
{ sc,sc,sc,2sc,,sc,sc,sc2sc,sc,sc,sc,2sc,2sc,2sc,sc,sc,sc,2sc,sc,sc,sc,sc} slip stich in first sc.


Rnd 5: change the yarn,slip stitch in first 2 stitches,scin next two stitches, hdc in next st 

(dc- picot  in next st, dc in next st )6times, 

dc -picot,dc in next st, (dc- picot  in next st, dc in next st )6times,

hdc in next 2 st   sc in next 2 st, slip stitch in last stitch.

The two pieces are sewed with a sewing needle .

The last decoration is made with yellow yarn . I just folded the yarn to make it a bunch then tied up with the yarn that is inserted into the picot stitch of the second feather and with crystal beads in it.
